Wells Timberland REIT seeks to acquire a portfolio of timberland properties that is diversified by geographic location and by the ages and species of the trees which the properties contain. Although we cannot guarantee, of course, that we will be able to achieve our target level of portfolio diversification, our objective is for the portfolio to reflect wide geographic diversification domestically, and to a limited degree, internationally.

By harvesting and selling timber, we intend to generate income for reinvestment in replacement timberland or future distributions to investors. Wells Timberland REIT also may lease timberland to others for recreational uses or for the extraction of underground natural resources.

Wells Timberland REIT, Inc. has a limited operating history and to date has made only one acquisition, Mahrt Timberland, a collection of timberlands in Georgia and Alabama. Wells Timberland REIT, Inc. may not achieve the level of diversification described in the prospectus.

As of March 24, 2010, Wells Timberland's total borrowings were approximately 114% of net assets and 50% of the cost of the timber assets before adjustments for depletion and amortization.
